Despite its current 10% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Mute (Netflix) isn’t a terrible movie. I didn’t have to turn it off halfway through. It didn’t cause my overabundance of energy and issues with a short of attention span to kick in and make me pace around my living room for two hours. No urge to gouge my eyes out. However, Mute is certainly a bad movie. There is no reason for a movie that’s over two hours long to have no point, no takeaway, and fail to connect with viewers on any level.
Full disclosure, this is one of the trickiest reviews that I’ve ever tried to write. How does one coherently write about a show where one of the most reasonable elements is a talking dog that is a best-selling author that may be able to melt brains. Or something. The Tick (Amazon) is

I likely won’t be writing a review of Black Panther. Everyone has seen it. Everyone loves it. So, what’s the point? Spectral (Netflix), however, is a much lesser known movie, that someone may be inclined to watch someday. Despite its 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, I’d advise against it.

I didn’t expect much from Marvel’s Runaways (on Hulu). I had no experience with the source material and the premise (rich kids finding out about their parents’ involvement in a secret society) didn’t appeal to me at all. I have to admit, however, that I was pleasantly surprised by the show.
I’ve heard a lot of criticisms of Netflix’s Altered Carbon from professional critics. The show currently holds a 63% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Well, the critics are wrong.
There were parts of the movie, especially in the first half, that caused me to literally laugh out loud. But the fundamental flaw with this movie is the main character. He has no redeeming qualities and he doesn't grow in any way. Some people will love this movie, but biographies about unrepentant narcissists aren't really my thing, at least not when the movie seems to be trying (and failing) to make the audience empathize with the character. 5.5/10
I have no clue what I'm doing, but I'll keep doing whatever it is to the best of my ability.
