"Premieres" will feature official trailers and synopses from what I feel looks like the most interesting (or the only, in some cases) original programming coming out in the subsequent week on Hulu, Amazon Prime, Netflix, and elsewhere. In no way to these previews represent recommendations or reviews. My intent is to post this segment each Thursday or Friday, but we'll see. Enjoy!
Niko and the Sword of Light: Season Two- Amazon Prime, December 28
Synopsis:
A plague of shadows has swept across the land, turning innocent creatures into terrible monsters. One champion remains to battle the darkness and return the world to the light: Niko. Armed with his magic sword and guided by a determined Princess, young Niko journeys to the Curse-ed Volcano to face the evil sorcerer Nar Est and free his people from their magic prison.
Tidying Up with Marie Kondo- Netflix, January 1
Synopsis:
In the eight-episode series, Marie Kondo guides people who are at a crossroads, but willing to tackle the clutter holding them back to spark joy in their homes and transform their lives in emotional and surprising ways.
Tidying Up with Marie Kondo follows a loving family of four who have relocated to a Los Angeles apartment from a four-bedroom home in Michigan; a recently widowed woman grappling with how to let go of her beloved late husband's possession, but not his memory; a young couple living in West Hollywood who are ready to leave their college-style of living behind; as well as soon-to-be parents who realize it’s time to let go of the past to pave way for their future family.
Genesis 2.0- In Theaters, January 2
Synopsis:
Year after year, the mammoth hunters set out on a dangerous journey to the remote New Siberian Islands in the far north of Siberia. They dig into the earth in search of the tusks of extinct mammoths — precious ivory that they can sell for huge sums of money. Because the permafrost is thawing, entire mammoth carcasses are also coming to light, and scientists are showing great interest in these finds. Cloning researchers and molecular biologists are working with a variety of methods to achieve their goal of bringing the woolly mammoth back to life. The film takes us from the archaic landscape of the New Siberian Islands to a mammoth museum in Yakutsk, a meeting of young scientists in Boston, the International Genetically Engineered Machine competition, to a commercial cloning company in South Korea, and to gene data bank in Shenzhen, China.
