Ronson, in his distinctive voice, admirably winds his way through some recent acts of public shaming, looking at the impact on the shamed, and what it says about people in general. Very interesting and just further entrenches the general discomfort I feel when people, protected by the anonymity of the internet, lambaste others -- especially non-public figures.
I am as judgmental as the rest, but I have never felt the need to directly tweet or otherwise contact a person and rain down vitriol from the top of my lungs. Ronson highlights (or lowlights?) the terrifying reality that you can have your life crumble in an instant and be remembered in perpetuity for the worst actions you took in a few passing minutes, or even seconds, of your life.
My love of reading was sparked in 3rd grade by the promise of personal pan pizzas via the BOOK IT! Program. Hmmmm... any chance that someone might give adults free food for reading? Asking for a friend...
