White Chamber (2019, currently on Netflix) takes place in a near-future version of the United Kingdom that has declared martial law and is being opposed by a rebel group known as the United Kingdom Liberation Party. The film begins with a woman in a featureless white box undergoing physical and psychological torture for unknown reasons. As the movie progresses we learn that all is not as it seems, and that morality can often be a relative concept.

​Over the course of 11 minutes, a mysterious force connects a group of strangers. The Jerzy Skolimowski film 11 Minutes (2016, currently on Hulu) is actually 83 minutes long and I can’t help but wonder if it would be better if  the length of the movie was a more accurate reflection of its title.

​Another Life (Netflix) takes place at some indeterminate point in a future that has a mix between extremely advanced and surprisingly contemporary technology. When a mysterious alien artifact lands on Earth and begins emitting a signal towards a distant star, the United States government sends a crewed mission to the signal’s destination in the hope of discovering if the aliens have benign or nefarious motives. During the journey, the ship, captained by Niko Breckinridge (Katee Sackoff) encounters nearly every obstacle imaginable. But the fate of the human race rests in their hands and they won’t be deterred.
