"Premieres" will feature official trailers and synopses from what I feel looks like the most interesting (or the only, in some cases) original programming coming out in the subsequent week on Hulu, Amazon Prime, Netflix, and elsewhere. In no way to these previews represent recommendations or reviews. My intent is to post this segment each Thursday or Friday, but we'll see. Enjoy!
Russian Doll- Netflix, February 1
"Russian Doll follows a young woman named Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) on her journey as the guest of honor at a seemingly inescapable party one night in New York City."
Into the Dark: Down- Hulu, February 1
"Things start off on a romantic note but quickly turn terrifying in this mash-up of horror and rom-coms. As the days go by and no one comes to help—the security guards are missing and someone is remotely deleting computer files, making the whole situation feel suspicious—Martinez and Lauria’s characters find themselves at odds as they struggle to survive their elevator prison."
The ABC Murders- Amazon Prime, February 1
"It’s 1933 and a killer travels the length and breadth of Britain via the railway network. The killer uses the alias ABC, and strikes in a methodical pattern, leaving a copy of the ABC railway guide at the scene of each of murder. As Poirot (John Malkovich) attempts to investigate he is thwarted on every front. If he is to match his most cunning nemesis, everything about him will be called into question: his authority, his integrity, his identity."
Braid- In Theaters, February 1
"Braid follows Petula Thames (Imogen Waterhouse) and Tilda Darlings (Sarah Hay), two self-proclaimed artists turned dealers on the run. After mishandling thousands of dollars in narcotics, the girls are given forty-eight hours to repay their vengeful drug lord. Fleeing town, they head to the desolate mansion of wealthy childhood friend, Daphne Peters (Madeline Brewer), with their sights set on house’s safe. Daphne, living secluded in the manor, has grown into a dangerous schizophrenic and prisoner of the fantasy world the three created as children. To abscond with her money, the girls are forced to take part in Daphne’s twisted, bloody game of make-believe, a demented maze of hallucinations, role play, torture…and murder."
I have no clue what I'm doing, but I'll keep doing whatever it is to the best of my ability.
